OASES: A Case Study in Innovation and Long-Term Partnership

In 2019 we acquired Communications Software (Airline Systems) Limited. This organisation, trading as “OASES”, has had an exceptional journey since its acquisition. As we mark six years of partnership, its story stands as a testament to how autonomy, investment, and forward-thinking innovation combine to unlock lasting value. Below, we explore what OASES has achieved and what its experience can teach business owners considering a similar path.

From Scale-Up to Industry Leader

Before its acquisition, OASES was a respected but relatively small privately held company. Despite its strong product and loyal customer base, the business faced growing pains common to founder-led organisations. Scaling beyond a certain point required more structure and resources. It also required a shift from ad-hoc work, to streamlined, documented processes.

Joining TAG Software Group provided exactly that foundation. With access to shared expertise in finance, governance, technology and recruitment, OASES was able to overcome the bottlenecks that had slowed its growth. Instead of struggling to keep pace with customer demand, the business was equipped to meet it head-on — laying the groundwork for its transformation into one of the most innovative software providers in its sector.

From Acquisition to Evolution

Since being acquired, OASES has retained its core identity while scaling its capabilities. Its product portfolio, customer base and technical infrastructure have evolved significantly. What once began as a solid MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul) software provider has transformed into an innovation hub within its domain — one that not only maintains its heritage but pushes into modern workflows, AI-powered tooling and brand clarity.

Pandemic

Very soon after the acquisition, the world changed. Among many challenges, lockdowns and travel restrictions affected millions around the world. Arguably two of the most heavily impacted sectors were hospitality and travel – two key components of the aviation industry. Airlines went from having a single aircraft out of service being a serious problem, to having whole fleets grounded.

The OASES team seized the opportunity to innovate, expand and get ready for normality to return.

Strengthening the team with new leadership

OASES joined with talent whose collective tenure numbered in the decades — but with the wider portfolio and management team’s help, they were able to bolster their team further — adding new talent with key experience in other areas.

One of OASES’ key hires was Paul Lynch, who is now OASES’ Group Managing Director. With his many years of experience within the aviation and software domains, Paul laid the foundations of growth in the post-COVID era. Alongside Paul, other experts in their respective fields joined the OASES team, with extensive knowledge of business development, marketing, product management, project management, implementation, customer success, learning and development and more.

A new foundation on which to build

One of the key areas TAG has identified that makes many software businesses more scalable, is focusing on moving to the cloud and leaving behind outdated on-premises setups.

After much development, OASES started the process of moving their customer base to the cloud – a transition that is all but complete today.

Moving from traditional on-premises servers was the first step in building a roadmap for future innovation. For their customers, the move to the cloud enabled more streamlined support, less infrastructure to maintain and easier upgrades.

In recent months, new levers have been identified that allow businesses to scale at an even greater rate, such as the integration of other software solutions and AI. OASES is now working to push their offering even further with these tools.

Enriching the Customer experience

Another area in which TAG was able to support OASES was in the standardisation of systems and processes. Where it made sense, OASES was able to deploy industry-standard frameworks and tools across their organisation – from Jira and Netsuite to monday.com and various AI tools.

This has had a far-reaching impact on every part of the business, enabling faster software development, improved NPS scores, reduced ticket times and more information and resources for customers.

Innovation That Doesn’t Stop

Even six years into their partnership with TAG, there are no signs of OASES slowing down. In 2025, they announced OASES Lumina, a complete, end-to-end rebuild and reimagining of their offering. It moves away from legacy code and systems and works with the latest technologies — far beyond what even OASES’ customers expect.

Alongside OASES Lumina, two AI-driven modules were announced: ASK OASES, an agent that lets users query analytics in natural language with dashboards, alerts and integrations; and OASES DocuMentor, an intelligent tool for documentation assistance.

At the same time, OASES also announced their 2026 brand refresh, as they start their new chapter with these incredible new software offerings.

Together, these milestones represent some of the most substantive leaps in the company’s history — and are innovations that would have been out of reach for most businesses acting alone, without the support of TAG Software Group.

Wider Impact

With the added resources and opportunities available to us as part of TAG Software Group, OASES has also been able to contribute to their industry, beyond their daily operations. For almost three years, they have partnered with the Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre (DARTeC) at Cranfield University, sponsoring a student for their Aviation Digital Technology Management MSc.

Performance & Highlights

At six years since acquisition, OASES continues to thrive. Here are some of the most important milestones and metrics that demonstrate its growth:

  • Revenue Growth: OASES has achieved around 80% revenue growth since joining Valsoft / TAG Software Group — with recurring revenue growth of 250% from existing customers moving to OASES’ cloud solutions.

  • Customer Base: Today, OASES supports over 80 customers worldwide, adding 5-10 new customers each year since their acquisition.

  • Product Innovation: The release of OASES Lumina, alongside AI-driven tools marks a step change in capability, offering customers modern, intelligent solutions to everyday operational challenges.

  • Brand Evolution: With a refreshed identity and clearer positioning, OASES has reintroduced itself to the market as a forward-looking, customer-centric software provider.

  • Team Expansion: Since acquisition, OASES has welcomed new hires across product, engineering, and customer success. Expansion has also been geographical. OASES has been hiring talent from across the world — strengthening the foundations for long-term growth.

  • CSR: With their partnership with Cranfield University, OASES has been giving back to the aviation community, helping to fund growth and talent development.

What This Means for Businesses Joining TAG Software Group

The OASES journey highlights a simple but powerful truth: growth at this scale rarely happens in isolation. Had OASES remained independent — or even joined another acquirer without TAG’s unique model — its trajectory would almost certainly have been slower and less transformative.

What TAG Software Group provided was more than capital. Its partnership model balances autonomy with the resources needed to scale — shared expertise in governance, recruitment, technology and market positioning. This allowed OASES to retain the DNA that made it valuable to customers, while gaining the structure and momentum to accelerate far beyond what most founder-led businesses can achieve alone.

For founders weighing their options, OASES demonstrates why the choice of partner matters. The right acquirer amplifies your vision and equips you to reach new heights, while the wrong one risks diluting culture or stalling innovation. TAG’s approach has proven to be the difference-maker in OASES’ transformation from a small, privately held player into an industry leader.

Conclusion

OASES’ six-year story is a powerful example of what partnership plus autonomy looks like when done right. For founders and software companies considering their next chapter, the partnership between TAG Software Group and OASES demonstrates that preserving your culture, continuing what you do best and receiving targeted support in tech, brand and analytics can unlock growth and resilience far beyond what either party could achieve alone.
